What is an App?
If you have an iPhone, or a phone that runs Android - or possibly even a Blackberry, then you will be familiar with the concept of Apps. Although the term, derived from the word Application, comes from software running on a desktop or laptop computer, Apple coined the shortened version some years ago to more readily apply to their groundbreaking mobile phone - the Apple iPhone.
Apple created the App Store to enable iPhone users to download Apps direct to their phone and when Google released their mobile operating system - Android some time later, they also introduced an Android App Store.
Many geek pundits are predicting that apps are the future and that in just a few years more mobile phones will be used to access the internet than any other device, so Apps are certainly going to grow in importance. At MECA we like to think we are ahead of the game and having an app that our customers can use to get in touch, or book their car in for work seemed an obvious thing to do. No longer do you have to wait to get home to look us up!
